Community Supported Agriculture
My daughter and I joined a CSA last year and enjoyed 22 weeks of reasonably priced farm-fresh organic fruits, and vegetables, plus eggs, yogurt, cheese, honey and granola from Norwich Meadows Farm. Our 2014 share was so generous, I was able to freeze some and enjoy the harvest long after the season ended. (The two photos to the left are from one week's share!) We're looking forward to the start of the 2015 season! Click here to learn more about Community Supported Agriculture and to find a CSA near you.
EWG (Environmental Working Group) has updated it's annual "EWG's Shopper's Guide to Pesticides in Produce" for 2015. Visit the EWG website for the full list of fruits and vegetables to see where you favorites rank. Enter your email for a free PDF version of the guide; or make a small donation to support EWG and get a handy bag tag version; and don't miss EWG's "Frequently Asked Questions About Produce and Pesticides."
Buy organic as much as possible for better nutrition, to reduce exposure to pesticides and to support the organic food industry.
